Who am I?
I ask that myself sometimes too. :)

My name is Danny Selva and I´m 33 years old.
I am a self taught freelance artist.
I was born in Germany and I live in the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany).
My mom is a German and my dad is of Sri Lankan descent.
​
I have been drawing for as long as I can remember.
As a child, i drew almost every day.
In elementary school, I often took part in painting competitions
and won many prizes.
​
After my graduation from high school I studied theology
and eventually a teaching degree for primary level with the subjects mathematics,
German and religious teaching.

After my studies I decided to become an artist."

"Though drawing has always been my favorite hobby in my childhood I lost my interest and dedication for it during my time at high school.
After a serious illness during my studies at university
I have rediscovered the love for painting and drawing.
For me it is a miracle that I can paint again.
Through my illness I was able to experience
that I am infinitely weak as a person.
Without God I am nothing.
He is perfect and loves me for who I am.

My artistic discipline
is a mix of realism and surrealism.
I love to compose my paintings and drawings. When I´m absorbed in thoughts images arise in my head. So then I do a sketch of that image I have in my mind.
Sketching gives me the possibility to change certain aspects or to add something to the actual painting."

For me it´s definitely a blessing being able to express my feelings, thoughts and ideas through art.
Having the talent of drawing and painting is a gift from God, which I don´t take for granted.
I would describe myself not only as an artist but also as a visual storyteller.
My dream is to become a full time artist and to inspire people by my art."
